Legion (2010): Great but (A Bit) Wasted
Okay, my mood today is a bit off, but that’s fine.
I’ve told you that I’m gonna share you my opinion about Legion (2010) Movie. So here is Citra says.

Honestly speaking, when there’s a book being adapted to movie, I tend to criticize. That’s a fact because I usually read the book first. And I would say: the book is far more interesting.

But there is an exception. Two, actually. No offense please. Two books I think much better pictured in the movie are: Lord of the Ring and The Bible.

Let’s get back to Legion (2010).
So put it simply, Legion is about human salvation, through the birth of chosen child from a chosen woman. Pretty much like baby Jesus. But in a modern way. And again, I don’t share you the synopsis of the movie (so please don’t get mad or confused when I don’t give details about the movie), I am telling you my opinion.
There is Archangel Michael, who was originally sent to the world to ‘kill’ the unborn baby of Charlie, the chosen woman. She is pregnant but unwed (like Mary Mother of God). So Michael refuses to kill the baby, ignoring ‘the command’ and comes down to earth as mortal man (no wings, no psychic power).
I don’t know the exact reason of why the baby must be killed, and that’s a bit confusing. But in the beginning, so far it is okay. Later then, being stuck in the middle of a dessert, comes the ‘dark side legion’ kind of possessed group of people trying to kill Charlie and the baby. And our good guy Michael task is to protect them.
Don’t tell me you’ve never watched ‘devil-possessed-Catholic(ish) movie”. Let say: The Exorcist, End of Days, Possessed, Bless the Child, Stigmata. Plenty. Then Legion won’t be such a surprise. Familiar, with ‘modern pack’. So the story lies on how Michael tries to save the baby out of ’dark side legion’ and particularly from Gabriel, who is sent to ‘complete’ Michael’s job.
The whole battle is about physical battle, and I don’t really like it much (I won’t say I am a fan of action movie). For you guys, probably you will love it. And when it comes to the ending, where Charlie and Jeep (he loves Charlie so much though Charlie doesn’t put much interest in him) are the only remaining people, run away from Gabriel and end up in a hill; then suddenly Michael shows up helping them up. He is supposed to be dead, as Gabriel killed him, but somehow because the power of forgiveness, Michael gets his life back, and yes (as you may guess) saves the baby.
I am just a little disappointed. The plot is okay, I would say it is great, pace-maker; but with (just) that ending? I mean, it is just so plain. There are much more plot can be added, more intrigue, more fight, more self battle. A bit wasted I would say (moreover I’ve seen lots of movies with this kind of story). It is probably okay to you who devour action movie.
